Israeli cellist Elad Kabilio is an active soloist and chamber musician. He has recently performed at Weill Hall at Carnegie Hall, Alice Tully Hall, the Morgan Library, the Metropolitan Museum of Arts and the Jewish Museum in New York City. He also performed at the Aspen music Festival, Young Artist Festival in Bayreuth – Germany, Chautaqua Music Festival, Kol-HaMusica Festival and the Keshet Eilon Music Festival in Israel.
As a teaching artist, Mr. Kabilio is devoted to bringing music to new audiences. He has taught in many schools both in Israel and New York City, including the Manhattan School of Music’s Preparatory Program. To bring classical music to the broader public he founded MusicTalks, a chamber music series with engaging and interactive conversation held in intimate settings.
Mr. Kabilio has received numerous awards throughout his career. He was selected by the Israel Ministry of Culture as an “Outstanding Musician” and served in the Israeli Army as a member of the Israeli Defense Force string quartet, performing concerts throughout Israel. He has been awarded the America-Israel Cultural Foundation scholarships for the past 10 years and he was a member of the Jerusalem Music Center’s ‘Young Musicians Group’, a special program for young talented musicians. He was awarded second prize at the Buchmann-Mehta School of Music string competition where he also received the “Orchestra Excellence Award” from Maestro Zubin Mehta. He also received the Ben-Bassat Fellowship Award and the Salti Foundation award.
As an orchestral musician he served as principal cellist of the Mannes College of Music Symphony Orchestra for two years and performed with the West-Eastern Divan Orchestra under the baton of Daniel Barenboim on tours in Europe and the US. He also performed with conductors such as Zubin Mehta, Gustavo Dudamel, James Conlon, David Zinman, Leonard Slatkin, Itzhak Perlman and JoAnn Falletta. He has participated in many master classes presented by world renowned Cellists such as Bernard Greenhouse, Janos Starker, Philip Muller, Wolfgang Böttcher, Tsuyoshi Tsutsumi, Ralph Kirshbaum, Michel Strauss, and Gary Hoffman.
Mr. Kabilio holds degrees from the Buchmann-Mehta School of Music - Tel-Aviv University, Mannes College of Music and Manhattan School of Music. His Principal teachers include: Zvi Plesser, Hillel Zori, Marcy Rosen and Julia Lichten.
