Chatham Baroque's performances at the 2005 Piccolo Spoleto Festival were so popular that the ensemble was immediately invited to return in 2006, where it once again received great praise. Chatham Baroque was acclaimed for its artful presentation of Spanish music with guest musicians and baroque dancers at the 2006 Madison Early Music Festival. Three repeat performances of this dazzling program Danzas y Bailes will be presented in 2007 in Chicago as part of the Newberry Library concert series. Chatham Baroque's live performances have been recorded and broadcast on NPR's Performance Today, generating calls and e-mails from as close to Pittsburgh as Virginia and as far away as Montana and Denmark.
In its hometown, Chatham Baroque is repeatedly listed among the Pittsburgh Post Gazette's "Top 50 Cultural Forces." In 2006 the ensemble's concert with guest artist Chris Norman was ranked among the "Ten Best Classical Performances" by the Post-Gazette. In February 2007 Chatham Baroque worked with the Pittsburgh Opera Center to present Francesco Cavalli's Ormindo, the latest of several such exciting collaborations in recent years.
Chatham Baroque, on Dorian Records, has released six best-selling CDs to critical acclaim. Both The Scotch Humour and Henry Purcell: Sonatas and Theatre Music received five-star ratings from Europe's Goldberg magazine. Chatham Baroque Live, released in 2006, is a recording of exciting live performances. The ensemble looks forward in 2007 to the release of its first CD on the Sono Luminus label, which will feature sonatas from the 17th-century collection, Prothimia Suaavissima, featured during the 2006-2007 concert series.
In addition to local and touring concerts and recording, Chatham Baroque presents Peanut Butter & Jam Sessions for pre-schoolers and Music All Over the Place performances in various community venues. Chatham Baroque is Ensemble-in-Residence at WQED-FM and Calvary Episcopal Church.
